ABOUT

A DEDICATION TO THE CRAFT

Fallen Timber is a boutique furniture studio based in Calgary, Alberta.. Our philosophy is simple: create fewer, better pieces that stand the test of time. By combining premium Canadian hardwoods with time-honored building techniques, we produce furniture that stands apart from mass-produced alternatives.

The core focus is the creation of one-of-a-kind functional art—from dining tables, coffee tables, desks, bed frames and credenzas. By seamlessly integrating high-qualily lumber with custom metalwork and upholstery,

Every commission is a collaborative effort. Working closely with clients from the initial design phase to final delivery ensures each piece is an intentional fit for your space and vision. Furniture is meant to be lived with, gathered around, and passed down. These are the anchors for your story—crafted with purpose and built to endure for generations.

MEET NATHAN KEEN

FOUNDER & LEAD CRAFTSMAN

For Nathan Keen, the journey began in his grandfather’s garage, spending afternoons building projects and finding deep-rooted respect for the craft. This early passion carried into high school, where he excelled in advanced woodshop, earning awards for his technical precision and eye for design.

The vision for Fallen Timber Furniture officially took shape in 2019. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and a refusal to put mass-produced furniture in his first apartment, Nathan began building for himself. What started as a pursuit in a two-car garage quickly evolved. In 2021, Nathan left his career in finishing carpentry to dedicate himself entirely to fallen timber. Today, the business operates out of a dedicated 1,300 sq. ft. commercial workshop and showroom in Calgary AB.

BEYOND THE WORK BENCH

When he isn’t at the shop, Nathan is almost certainly off the grid. His design language is heavily influenced by the silence of the backcountry, spending his downtime fly fishing remote rivers, hiking, and exploring the wilderness via vehicle-based travel. In fact, the studio’s name is a direct tribute to the Fallen Timber River in Alberta, one of his favorite spots to explore and cast a line.
