Custom Furniture
Your Vision. Handcrafted Without Compromise.
START YOUR PROJECT
Homeowners and designers turn to Fallen Timber when off-the-shelf options fall short of their expectations. Unlike mass-produced furniture, our work is refined through a collaborative design process. Instead of forcing your life to fit your furniture, we design specifically for you and your space. Whether you have a detailed blueprint or just an idea, we are here to bridge the gap between vision and reality.
We work with premium domestic hardwoods and non-toxic finishes. To ensure every element of your piece is executed with precision. We also regularly integrate custom metalwork and bespoke upholstery.
Typical lead times are 12 to 16 weeks, depending on the complexity of your project.
While we source a variety of Canadian timber, we specialize in the use of: Ash, white oak, and black walnut.
Commissioning a custom piece begins with a complimentary consultation and moves through our three-phase design process. Every project at Fallen Timber is a collaborative journey between the client and our founder, Nathan Keen. From the first email to delivery.
HOW IT WORKS
-
Every project begins with a conversation. Whether you have a detailed blueprint or just an idea, we schedule a call or virtual meeting to explore your vision.
Design & Dimensions: Ensuring the piece fits your life and your specific floor plan.
Material Selection: Choosing the right domestic hardwoods for your aesthetic.
Preliminary Estimate: We provide an initial cost and timeline to ensure the project aligns with your expectations.
-
This is where your vision takes shape. Once you have reviewed the estimate and wish to move forward -
We translate our conversation into 3D Renderings to refine proportions and design. We require a Refundable Design Retainer. This fee covers the creation of your custom drawings / renderings and is 100% credited toward your final project total.
Detailed 3D Renderings: Visualizing the final piece to ensure every detail is resolved.
Showroom & Shop Visit: We invite you to our Calgary shop to confirm your wood & finish selection, see our process, and "where the magic happens."
Final Approval: Once the design is confirmed, a 50% initial payment secures your place in our production queue and we begin sourcing your specific timber.
-
With the design locked in, fabrication begins at our Calgary shop. We combine traditional joinery with modern precision to build furniture that lasts for generations.
Process Updates: You aren't left in the dark. We provide regular updates as your piece moves through milling, assembly, and finishing.
Hand-Applied Finishes: We use non-toxic, vegetable-based oils from a partner with over 125 years of manufacturing wood finishes. Safe for your home from day one.
White-Glove Delivery: For ALL or our projects, we personally deliver and install your piece to ensure your furniture is placed exactly where it belongs.
